It is not the critic who enumerate; not the researcher who points out how the good researcher stumbles, or where the doer of researches could have done them better. The credit belongs to the researcher who is actually in the arena, whose hands are married with pipettes and kits, whose eyes are married with microscopes and the results, whose face is married with sweat and blood; who strives valorously; who be mistaken, as there is no effort without mistakes and shortcoming; but who does actually strove to do the deeds; who knows the great enthusiasms, the great devotion, and seeks the great success; who spends his life in a worthy cause; who, at the best, will be at the end of the triumph of a high achievement, and who, at the worst, if he fails, at least fails while challenging greatly, therefore cold and unmanly souls, who neither know victory nor defeat, shall never be in his place.

Does G6PD deficiency protect from malaria?
-
Protect African, not Asian !!!
The population history, archeology, and human genetics indicate that the age of this selection by malaria is more than 5,000 years old in Africa. Moreover, the frequencies of deficiency alleles in most G6PD deficient populations in endemic areas do not exceed 40%.
-
Protect only heterozygote females, not homo/hemizygotes!!!!!
The parasite undergoes habitual changes when passing through successive G6PD-deficient red cells in order to be more adaptive. These changes resulted in production of the parasite’s own enzyme which in turn resulted in survivability and replication of the parasite. As the heterozygous females are genetically mosaic, the parasite failed to survive.

In this study, we developed in silico models to predict hemozoin inhibitors as a potential first-step screening for novel antimalarials. The in vitro colorimetric high throughput screening (HTS) assay of hemozoin formation was used to identify hemozoin inhibitors from 9600 structurally diverse compounds.
-
the prediction models can be a new, useful and cost-effective approach for the first screen of hemozoin inhibition based antimalarial drug discovery.
